Travel Diary: Boone, NC

Hey y’all! Hope everyone’s summer has been a blast so far. Today I have another travel diary. Last week my family and I rented a house near Boone, NC and I wanted to share with you guys some of the cool pictures I got! We went shopping down King Street, Zip lining at Sky Valley Zip Lines ( I would really recommend it, definitely worth the money!), and went hiking.

Todd Mercantile:

This cute little store was in the town of Todd. The town was really cute, but very tiny.

The Sour Dough Bread is SO Good!

Elk Knob State Park:

We did the summit hike with is about 3.8 miles roundtrip. Going up it is all up hill, but the views at the top are totally worth it. The path itself is also nicely maintained.

The Blowing Rock:

Located in the town of blowing rock, The Blowing Rock is a lookout point with fantastic views, and you don’t have to hike 4 miles to see it!

I had so much fun on this vacation and cannot wait until my next adventure! I know that in March of 2018 I have a cruise planned, but hopefully I will get travel to a new place before then and make another travel diary for you all!

Spring Outfit Ideas

Hey y’all! Happy Saturday! The weather has been so warm and nice here recently, I think I might try to go to the beach soon.

About a month ago I got my senior pictures taken and absolutely loved how they turned out and my outfits so I thought I would share them with y’all! We took them in Downtown Wilmington.

The blue peplum top is by Free People and my off the shoulder coral/ orange top is from Julie’s Boutique!

My pictures were done by “The Photographerette” on Facebook.

NYC Travel Diary

Hey y’all! Sorry I haven’t posted for a while, I just wasn’t feeling inspired. I have decided that I want to put more effort into each post I put up so from now on I will be posting once a week, on Saturday. You might get a few bonus posts here and there, but make sure you come back every Saturday for a new post. Since that is all out of the way, lets get into what this blog post is all about: New York City! ( I went in March, so this is a little late but hey; better late than never right?)

For spring break I went to New York City with my aunt and cousins. It was so much fun and am so thankful that I got to go! This was my second time visiting the City and I absolutely love it, I can’t wait to go back. We left on a Wednesday and came back on a Saturday. While we were there it even snowed! That was really exciting for me since I live on the coast of North Carolina; it hardly ever snows here! We stayed at the Gallivant Times Square. I would give this a 4/5 stars. The location was great because it was located a few blocks from times square and the room itself was pretty big. My only complaints is that the lighting sucked, there were no outlets in the bathroom (that made doing your hair a little tricky), and one night we came back and our bathroom smelled like pot (I guess it came down from the vent?). All in all though, you typically don’t spend that much time in the room when you go to New York so it was manageable.

The Rockefeller Center:

We went to the top at night and it was so cool and peaceful up there! The view is great and you can even see the Empire State Building.

Let me know in the comments down below where your favorite places to go in NYC are! I would love some recommendations for the next time I go.

Welcome 2017 & Resolutions

Well another year has come and gone. When I think back 2016 was a pretty good year. I learned a lot about myself and accomplished a few of my goals I made at the beginning of the year. I know setting goals for the new year comes with the connotation of failure, but I personally believe that if you want to change something you can. I figured I would share my goals for 2017!

  • Keep my room consistently clean. I plan to spend 10 minutes each day cleaning it.
  • Have a healthy lifestyle. Both physically and mentally. I want to change my eating and exercise habits and grow deeper in my faith.
  • Stop sweating the small stuff and just have fun.
  • Graduate HS.

DIY Christmas Stockings

Hey y’all! Welcome to “Blogmas” day 5. Sorry I didn’t post anything yesterday, but I decided I’m not going to be posting on Sundays during the holidays. Just so I have 1 day a week to relax.

I am a senior in High school and we are required to do a “graduation project”. I chose to learn how to sew and actually made a really cute swing dress that I will probably show you guys soon. I thought it would be cute to sew everyone in my family a stocking for christmas!

The first thing I did was go and buy 5 different patterned cotton fabrics ( a different one for each person). I got 3/4 yd. of each because I wasn’t sure how big I was going to make them. I can actually end up making 2 stockings out of each 3/4 yd so now I am going to be making 10 stockings!

I traced a stocking that we already had so that I could cut out the fabric.

Once you have finished cutting the fabric out, sewing it is pretty simple. There are many tutorials on youtube if you are nor sure what to do. I used a piece of scrap fabric to practice on first so I wouldn’t mess up any of the Christmas prints! It’s super easy to do, even if you are not a wiz on the sewing machine ( I’m not either! ). If I can do it, you can too, I promise.

The stockings I have made so far:
